Learning Through Play – Board Game Meet-Up

Learning experiences happen through play. That’s why we hosted the Learning Through Play – Board Game Meet-Up, an event designed to bring young people together for a fun and interactive way to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making skills.

This meet-up featured a variety of strategy-based and educational board games, each designed to tackle real-world issues such as social inclusion, sustainability, European cooperation, and human rights. Participants worked in teams, navigating different challenges that required negotiation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

Why Board Games?
Encourage strategic thinking – Players had to plan, adapt, and make impactful decisions.
Promote teamwork – Many games required cooperation to reach common goals.
Foster discussions on social topics – Games simulated real-world challenges, allowing participants to reflect on key global issues in a hands-on way.
Build leadership skills – Players took on roles of decision-makers, learning to lead and influence outcomes.
The atmosphere was lively, filled with discussions, laughter, and serious game strategies. Some teams tackled economic and political dilemmas, while others focused on building sustainable communities or managing resources. Through the game mechanics, participants learned about cooperation, diplomacy, and the impact of their choices on society.

At the end of the meet-up, participants shared their reflections on the experience, discussing how the lessons from the games could be applied to real-world activism and leadership.

This was more than just a game night, it was an opportunity to engage, learn, and connect in a meaningful way. With such an enthusiastic response, we look forward to organizing more board game meet-ups that combine education, fun, and social impact.
