Mental Health Awareness Campaign: Let’s Talk About It

We recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health, yet it remains a topic that is often misunderstood, ignored, or stigmatized. That is why, on World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10th), we organized the Mental Health Awareness Campaign: Let’s Talk About It, a powerful and deeply meaningful event aimed at breaking the stigma, encouraging open conversations, and providing essential support to young people struggling with mental health challenges.

This full-day event brought together mental health professionals, youth advocates, and individuals with lived experiences to discuss topics such as anxiety, depression, stress management, and suicide prevention. Our goal was not just to educate, but to create a safe and open space where young people could express themselves freely and find support in their community.

The event opened with a series of talks from psychologists, therapists, and social workers who shared insights into the importance of mental well-being, early warning signs of mental health struggles, and coping strategies for stress and anxiety. One of the key takeaways from these discussions was that mental health issues do not discriminate, they can affect anyone, regardless of background, gender, or age.

One of the key components of this campaign was empowering young people to support one another. To make this possible, we launched a peer-support initiative, encouraging attendees to form support groups, check in on their friends, and build strong, understanding communities. Trained mental health volunteers guided participants in how to listen, offer support, and recognize when professional help is needed.

Additionally, we distributed flyers and resource booklets containing essential information on where to seek professional help, mental health hotlines, self-care techniques, and coping mechanisms. These resources ensured that even after the event ended, participants had the tools to continue their mental health journey in a positive and informed way.

By the end of the event, it was clear that conversations around mental health are deeply needed. Many attendees shared that they felt more comfortable discussing their struggles and had a better understanding of available mental health resources. Some even reached out to professional counselors for guidance, a crucial step toward healing and recovery.

The campaign reinforced our belief that no one should feel alone in their struggles. At EU Activisten, we are committed to continuing the conversation and ensuring that mental health remains a priority in our community.

This event was not just about raising awareness, it was about creating a culture of empathy, understanding, and support. We will continue to organize mental health initiatives, workshops, and support groups, so that young people always have a place to turn when they need help.

💙 Remember: Your mental health matters. You are not alone. Let’s keep the conversation going. 💙
